Echoes of a Spiral Drift is a space artwork that will travel to the Mars system, aboard JAXA’s Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission. Scheduled to launch in November–December 2026, the work will journey to Phobos, one of the red planet’s two moons, installed directly on the MMX spacecraft. This work extends artistic practice into interplanetary space, using the mission itself as both medium and context.
The Silent Circles is an artwork that embodies the three fundamental phases of a person's life—Youth, Maturity, and Elderhood—as it orbits the Earth across a multi-year continuum. Three AI-driven animations, displayed on a screen directly exposed to the harsh space environment on the satellite's exterior, evoke these phases through mission activations in 2024 (MORNING), 2025 (MIDDAY), and 2026 (MIDNIGHT). Across these three years, the artwork weaves the arc of a human lifetime into a phased spaceborne journey.
The spacecraft Europa Clipper is headed to Jupiter’s moon Europa, and includes a microchip with two artworks by Eduardo Kac: Mater Piscis and Syzygy. The launch took place on October 14, 2024, with arrival at Jupiter in 2030. The mission duration is 3.5 years.
