KAC'S ADSUM  BACKUP TO FLY TO LUNAR SOUTH POLE

Adsum backup is scheduled to land on the Lunar South Pole aboard the Griffin Lunar Lander in July 2026.

A second, backup copy of Eduardo Kac's new space artwork Adsum will be permanently located onboard the Griffin lunar lander, manifested inside Astrobotic's MoonBox payload. Griffin is scheduled to land in the Nobile region near the lunar south pole in July 2026. After Griffin lands, there will be two copies of Adsum on the moon, on opposite hemispheres.

Conceived for the Moon, Adsum is a cubic glass sculpture inside of which symbols are laser engraved. The symbols are positioned one in front of the other, thus forming a spatial poem inside the solid glass cube that can be read in any direction. The first landing of Adsum occurred at Mare Crisium on March 2nd, 2025. Click here to rotate and inspect a 3D model of the work.
